Product Features of 8 String Combiner Box

The EKDBT-PV8/1-1000 8 string combiner box brings string fusing, surge protection, and a main DC disconnect together in a single enclosure, which simplifies the wiring between the PV array and the inverter or DC distribution cabinet.

  • Rugged IP65 enclosure: a metal combiner box casing measuring 750 × 560 × 180 mm, with customizable shell materials available on request.
  • 8 strings in, 1 output: eight PV strings are merged into one DC output (8/1 configuration).
  • Full string protection: 16 DC fuses (EKF1-10XPVH-10-1P, 15A, 1000VDC) protect both the positive and negative lines of every string against short circuits.
  • Over-voltage and lightning protection: one EKU5-T2-40PV-2M1000 DC surge protector (40kA, 2P, 1000VDC).
  • Main DC switch: one EKM7DC-250M/2 main switch (2P, 250A, 1000VDC) for safe isolation of the combined output.
  • Grounding: a dedicated PE terminal is provided for protective earth connection.
  • Optional upgrades: anti-reflection (anti-backflow) diode and monitoring module can be added to suit project requirements.
  • Customizable: the EKDBT series lists standard configurations only; special requirements can be customized to the user’s needs.

Commercial Applications of 8 String Combiner Box

The 8 string combiner box is designed for photovoltaic power generation systems operating under 1000V DC. By combining eight strings into one output, it reduces the number of cables that have to be run to the inverter and keeps short-circuit and over-voltage protection in one easy-to-service location. The EKDBT series is suitable for residential, commercial and industrial PV installations.

Applications & Use Cases

  • Residential rooftop PV systems with up to eight module strings.
  • Commercial rooftop and carport solar arrays that need centralized string protection.
  • Small industrial and ground-mounted PV plants operating at up to 1000V DC.
  • Sub-array combining ahead of an inverter or DC distribution cabinet, where the 8 string combiner box reduces input wiring.
  • Projects that require optional string monitoring or anti-backflow diodes added to the standard configuration.
