Product Features of ATS 63A

The EKATS3 is a PC-class infrequent change-over switch with a two-station design (A for common power, B for standby). It meets IEC 60947-6-1.

  • Fast electromagnet drive: An electromagnet drives the switching. The default control voltage is AC 220V, and AC 110V can be customized.
  • Clear status indication: Power-on indicators show the common, backup, and load supplies. Mechanical position indicators show the switch status.
  • Self-switching and self-restoring: In automatic mode, the I (main) supply has priority when both supplies are present.
  • Built-in power sampling: No separate control power line is needed. Connecting the main circuit is enough for automatic changeover.
  • Compact modular design: The same-side incoming line makes wiring easy. Total weight is ≤ 0.5 kg.
  • Arc extinguishing system: The arc is split into many series arcs in the arc extinguishing grid. Electromagnetic force stretches, cools, and extinguishes them.
  • Durable build: The shell is fire-resistant, and the PCB has a three-proof coating for harsh environments.
  • Manual override: A manual/automatic selector and a manual rotary switch are fitted.

Commercial Applications of ATS 63A

The EKATS3 keeps single-phase and low-voltage commercial loads running when the grid fails. It moves automatically to a backup supply.

Applications & Use Cases

The datasheet does not list specific industries. The use cases below follow from its stated function (main-to-backup changeover, AC 50/60Hz, 10–80A) and are my inference, so review them before publishing.

  • Main grid to backup generator changeover: Automatic switching when the common supply fails. The switch returns to the main supply when it recovers.
  • Commercial and light-industrial distribution panels: Compact, DIN-mounted switching for small loads up to 80A.
  • Critical small loads: Equipment that cannot tolerate long outages, since switching takes under 50 ms.
  • Harsh-environment cabinets: Pollution level 3 rating and a coated PCB.
